There are similarities between the more common electro-optical (EO) and infrared (IR) sensors reviewed in Module 3 and the multi and hyperspectral sensors explored in this module. However, there are differences in capability that make multi or hyperspectral sensors a better choice for some UAS remote sensing applications.

Identify the strengths and weaknesses of multi and hyperspectral systems and explore applications in which they might be used in place of or as a compliment to EO and IR sensors. Can you identify any needs for additional development to make these sensors more viable for widespread integration into UAS, particularly small platforms? Be sure to consider the storage and possible transmission requirements for the data, potential necessity for specialized analysis software or training, space and power needs, etc.
